Employment Opportunities, the national charity dedicated to helping people with disabilities and medical conditions to find and retain employment, has appointed Bell Pottinger Business & Brand to provide PR consultancy and support after a four-way competitive pitch.
Bell Pottinger Business & Brand is the first PR agency that the charity has appointed, and the initial brief will be to support the charity's re-launch, which was kicked off by the first ever Employment Opportunities awards, Changing Lives Through Employment at St James's Palace.
The PR work will also concentrate on raising the charity's media profile, building a comprehensive case study library and finding ways to illustrate to employers the wide benefits from employing individuals with disabilities.
Key Employment Opportunities schemes, such as the innovative work with graduates with disabilities, internship programmes run in conjunction with some of the City's leading institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and UBS, will also be more widely promoted.
Karin Pappenheim, CEO of Employment Opportunities, said: "There are around one million unemployed people with disabilities who want to work but are not yet being given the chance. Bell Pottinger's challenge is to support Employment Opportunities in promoting the benefits of an inclusive workplace, helping employers 'See the Ability', not the disability, and to help disabled people achieve their full potential at work."
Kevin Read, MD of Bell Pottinger Business & Brand, said: "We will be delivering a strong message to potential employers about the untapped human resource amongst people with disabilities, as well as reaching out to those looking to find fulfilling employment."
